Survivor host hints his days may be numbered

Will Jeff Probst walk away from Survivor for good?"I honestly don't know," he told canada.com on Tuesday. "I really don't."Probst's contract with the popular reality series expires upon completion of the 16th installment next year and he hasn't decided if he'll be back.
"I think I'm at the point in my life where I'm considering, 'What do I do for me?' I want to make sure that I push myself."

Probst admitted that the words of actor Robert Forster - his co-star in the 2001 film The A-List - resonate whenever he's thinking about his future. "He told me: Don't you ever walk away from that show. When you have work, you take it."Probst, 45, said he's still very interested in Survivor, which airs Thursday nights on Global. "I am most fascinated by people and why we do what we do. I am fascinated by watching how people justify their ethics and make the same mistakes we make because we are all human," he said. "I have worked harder on myself and invested more time in myself trying to get to know who I am and what I want to be - and it's a direct result of Survivor."

Probst said although "it's asking a lot" of the audience to accept a new host with a new attitude, he believes the series could remain successful without him. The Seattle native also revealed there have been serious discussions about setting a future season of Survivor in a remote part of Canada. "We're still on the fence about it," he said, noting a cold Canadian locale would be "new and different." But he said producers are concerned about the optics of competitors in hats and parkas versus shorts and swimsuits. "And physically, you tend to shut down when you're cold," he said. Probst added that executive producer Mark Burnett is "leaning towards considering a colder climate."

But Canadians need not apply. "(Burnett) only owns the right to do an American version of the show so we have to have U.S. contestants."
